Architecture that embraces you

Polished concrete. A concrete slab ground with diamond abrasives, densified with a chemical hardener and polished in stages to the chosen sheen. A continuous floor with no tile joints, abrasion-resistant and low-maintenance.

Troweled concrete. Cement mortar applied to walls or ceilings and smoothed with a steel trowel over several passes. It is left as the final finish, unpainted: texture and tone come from the material itself.

Stucco. A render of slaked lime, fine sand and mineral pigments, applied in thin coats. It is vapour-permeable, lets moisture out of the wall and can be patched in sections without the repair showing.

Chukum. A render of lime and fine aggregates bound with resin from the bark of the chukum tree, a technique of Maya origin from the Yucatán Peninsula. Waterproof, water-resistant and naturally warm in tone.

Terrazzo. Marble and stone chips set in a cement matrix, poured in place or in tiles, then ground and polished to a mirror. A surface built for heavy foot traffic and made to last for decades.

Coral stone. Porous limestone formed from fossil coral, light and easy to carve. It is used for walls, fences and cladding; its porosity means it must be sealed against moisture and stains.

Rubble masonry. A wall of natural stone laid by hand in lime or cement mortar, joint by joint. Maintenance means repointing: replacing lost mortar and consolidating the wall without taking the stone down.
